The weeping wound of centuries: Mina Gajbhiye

Mina Gajbhiye

The weeping wound of centuries

The weeping wound of centuries
I had sutured with difficulty
The weeping wound of centuries.
Those stitches are all ripped out, ripped out by Marathawada.
Even our old bonds of give and take are snapped
From now on I’ll live to die.
Let the village become a burning ground
Along with me.
I will not live like a dog, nowhere.

Note:

Marathawada.there were massive riots in 1976 over proposal to name Marathawada University after Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, the untouchable leader who had brought higher education to the area. The violence cost several lives and much loss of Dalit and Buddhist homes and property in the Marathawada area.
